LED low bays are your go-to option when it comes to lighting areas with low ceilings. They’re mostly found in warehouses, retail operations, and industrial facilities. Since they have an estimated 70 CRI, or color rendering index, they bring out the true colors of objects underneath them. Take grocery stores, for instance. Produce Managers need to make sure fruits and vegetables sell quickly, or else they run the risk of spoiling. With an LED low bay light, produce looks the most appealing to customers. Making the switch to LED in grocery stores has also been known to increase sales by up to 30%. A high CRI is also important in critical operations, such as in warehouses. A low CRI means it would be difficult for an employee to tell certain colors apart, which could mean the difference between pushing a green button and a red button. This instantly becomes a potential safety hazard. Seeing clearly also makes it easier to navigate inventory around corners, crooks, and crevices, eliminating any hot or dark spots and preventing trips and falls. LED low bays can also reduce headaches, eye strain, and migraines, purely based on their technology. This makes for more efficient workers. Also, since these fixtures last over 100,000 maintenance-free hours, relamping becomes a thing of the past. This is especially important in 24/7 operations because relamping means stopping everything—including labor—to fix the problem fixture. A facility manager would need to pay extra to hire a lift, then hire a contractor to do the actual replacing, plus account for all the lost labor time as his employees must stand off to the side for safety while repairs take place. Not to mention, less efficient lighting options require extra room to stock on-hand replacements, which could otherwise be used for profitable inventory. As far as retrofits, LED low bays are extremely easy to install. Since a lot of people are coming from 4 foot fluorescents, linear low bays are the perfect solution, mainly because they’re available in 4 feet and easily fill the space that previous fixtures left behind. However, if round low bays are more your style, or just better suited for the task at hand, that style is available, as well. All of our low bays are third-party certified, with coveted designations from UL and DLC. This means they’ve passed all kinds of tests. Drop tests ensure that your fixture makes it to you in one piece; thermal tests pass a fixture through both hot and cold extremes, making sure it can withstand the elements. This is especially important because prior inferior fluorescents and metal halides could not survive in temperature extremes. Their sweet spot was 77 degrees and anything above or below that caused them to lose efficiency. Not so with LEDs, easily making them the superior option. They’re also dimmable, which means you’ll save a lot on energy costs. And, since we fully believe in the integrity of our products, each comes certified with a 5-year warranty. Basically, once you install it, you’ll never have to worry about it again.
